Price of Apple iPad 2 reduced in US
Meijer has reduced the price of the 16GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi to 9.

The price of Apple's iPad 2 has been slashed in the US, prompting further speculation that the third generation of the tablet will be released in the coming weeks.

Big-box retailer Meijer has decided to drop the price of the 16GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi to $429 (£272), meaning consumers can enjoy a saving of $70.

In its latest weekly ad, Meijer revealed the offer will only be available from Sunday (February 12th 2012) to Saturday while stocks last.

The news comes just days after AllThingsD claimed Apple has chosen the first week of March to unveil its latest iPad, with the event set to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Although the tech news site's sources were unable to give a likely release date for the new tablet, John Paczkowski of AllThingsD predicted the device will be available "a week or so" after the launch event.
