Nintendo has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be available in the UK from November 18th.

Set to be one of the last major game launches of the year, the new title will serve as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and is the first Zelda game developed specifically for the Wii console.

Although The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was released for the Wii in 2006, it was created with Nintendo's GameCube in mind.

In a statement, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt described the forthcoming release as "the biggest game in the series yet".

He added: "We've just scratched the surface of this massive experience and we look forward to sharing additional details with fans."

Skyward Sword is set to compete will several other big-name titles being launched in November, including Saints Row: The Third, Assassin's Creed Revelations and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
