Marchesa 'planning contemporary line'
Marchesa and LF USA are said to be discussing the introduction of a contemporary clothing range.

Luxury women's fashion brand Marchesa is thought to be in talks with an investment company over the possibility of launching a new contemporary line.

According to fashion, beauty and retail news provider WWD, the company is discussing the potential launch with LF USA, the American arm of Li & Fung.

Additional details are currently unclear and neither Marchesa or LF USA chiefs were prepared to issue any comment on the matter, but an official announcement could be imminent.

Marchesa was established in 2004 by British-born Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, who met while studying at Chelsea College of Art and Design.

Their collections are defined by eveningwear that draws influence from vintage and Asian styles.

The New York-based brand's clothes are available in high-end retailers such as Harrods in London, and Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the US.

Current lines include Marchesa by Lenox, Marchesa Bridal, Marchesa for Le Metier de Beaute and Notte by Marchesa.
