ASUS has announced its U36, billed as the world's thinnest laptop to feature a standard voltage Intel Core i5 processor, is now available in the UK.
The computer features a 19-mm thick chassis manufactured from magnesium alloy, which weighs 1.44 kg but is still adept at repelling dirt, water and finger marks.
According to ASUS, the inclusion of the high-performance processor is possible thanks to the company's dual heat pipe technology, designed to dissipate heat from the chip without sacrificing the laptop's slim-line looks.
Up to 11.5 hours of battery life, a 13.3-inch high-definition screen and 500 GB of storage are among the other features of the U36.
Priced at £699, the laptop is available online and in-store from Micro Anvika, with Comet also set to launch the computer before the end of the month.
The U36 is likely to be a direct competitor to the ultra-slim new MacBook Air, which is expected to begin shipping in late June or early July.
