The Sony Xperia S is set to hit the market in March with the support of network operators O2, 3 Mobile and Orange, and the retailer Phones 4u.
Virgin Media and Vodafone are the only carriers yet to confirm that they will sell the smartphone, which was unveiled by the phonemaker in the run-up to the 2012 International CES expo.
Among the features offered by the device is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor for fast internet browsing and downloading, a 12-megapixel camera capable of taking shots in just 1.5 seconds and high-definition sharing via DLNA, HDMI and BRAVIA Sync.
According to Sony, the "minimalistic" design of the Xperia S is reflected in its user interface, which has been specially redesigned for this handset.
The smartphone is also PlayStation-certified, meaning users can look forward to enjoying a high-quality gaming experience and the ability to access the PlayStation store.
It will be powered by the Android 2.3 operating system from launch, but will be upgraded to Android 4.0 during the second quarter of 2012.
